There have been a lot of changes to the site in the last few months. We hope you like them - please let us know what you think. 1. Ms Dynamite (Coming soon) Click on this link to listen to an interview with Ms Dynamite, SPAN's Patron, on issues affecting single parent families. 2. Groups There is now a complete new section for single parent groups - a mini website nested within the main one. Click on the Groups button on the home page to find information on starting and growing your group, and what's going on in the SPAN Link-up Networks. Groups Exchange is a new feature offering the chance for your group to swap ideas or news about what you're doing, such as events. 3. Food There's a new section on food and healthy eating in Healthy Ideas. This includes simple ideas for eating well, items on vegetarian and African food and food campaigns of concern to parents. You'll also find some yummy Caribbean recipes to start off this section. Send us your own ideas for healthy, economical meals that are easy to make. 4. In the News You've probably noticed the tickertape going across the bottom of the Home Page. These are headlines of the latest news items of interest to single parents. Just click on the headline to read the full story. The website is written by single parents for single parents and brought to you by Single Parent Action Network. This is because someone had hacked into it and it displayed inappropriate websites. This has now been rectified so, if you were a message board contributor, please continue. If you've not tried it why not give it a whirl - it's a mine of useful advice, support and experience from single parents like you. 3. Online volunteers Would you like to get more involved and help us to keep the website going? Online volunteers can help with moderating the message boards, writing articles, checking links, etc. We also need someone to help with In the News - keeping the items, which scroll across the bottom of the home page, up to date. You can spend as much or as little time as you like - even an hour a week would be useful. For more info contact chris@spanuk.org.uk 4. The Big Lottery Fund has agreed to fund a new Policy project, which aims to influence decision makers locally and nationally to develop policies that take account of the specific needs of one-parent families.
